Nan Battison

We are sad to announce the death of SASA life member, Nan Battison, who with her late husband George Battison, (life member of both East Disrict and SASA) played an active part in East District activities.

Nan's funeral is at Warriston Cloisters, Edinburgh, on Wednesday 1st June, at 2:30 p.m.

Steward volunteers 27-29 May Commonwealth Pool

We are expecting large numbers of swimmers from all over Scotland.

We are looking for volunteer stewards for the upcoming East District Open at the RCP Edinburgh from Friday 27- Sunday 29 May 2016. This is one of the major meets in the District calendar and we are expecting large numbers of swimmers from all over Scotland.

No previous experience is necessary and this might suit parents of swimmers or older / former swimmers willing to help out and get a chance to see the top swimmers from the UK up close at the event for free. This could be used towards Duke of Edinburgh, Saltire or other volunteering awards. Volunteers should be over 15.
 
Duties will include; 
  • directing spectators to their seats, and escorting them out at the end of each session
  • ensuring stairs and walkways are kept clear 
  • assisting pool staff to keep the spectator and balcony swimmer area tidy
  • monitoring barrier areas between poolside, swimmers area and spectators area
Volunteers can choose as many or as few shifts as they are able to attend , and if they attend two consecutive sessions they are entitled to a meal voucher for the on site café to cover their meal break.

The shifts are as follows ( times are approximate at the moment, to be confirmed nearer the date)
 
Friday 27th                 3pm-8pm
 
Sat 28/Sun 29
Morning.                           07:00hrs to finish approx. 11:45hrs 
Afternoon                         11:30hrs to finish approx. 16.00hrs 
Evening                            15:45hrs to finish approx. 20:00hrs
