Shared Coach Education courses – UKCC Level 1

From 13th to 21st October 2012, Scottish HockeyBasketball Scotland, NetballScotland and Scottish Swimming will work together to deliver UKCC Level 1 coaching courses as part of a shared education week. Each sport will deliver a standard UKCC Level 1 course and also a Fast track (technical content only) UKCC Level 1 course. The Fast track courses will acknowledge Approved Prior Learning (APL) and be open to any coach already holding a UKCC Level 1 qualification in any sport.

This is the first time such an event will be delivered, and it is hoped local partners and sports will work together to target existing coaches & volunteers who may benefit from attaining an additional coaching qualification.

This is a real opportunity for level 1 coaches to gain additional qualifications at a much reduced cost and with less time commitment for coaches.  There is alsofree Disability Inclusion training for coaches.  For more information please see the attached form.  Deadline – 1st October 2012.

Scottish Borders Coaching Conference

Borders Sports and Leisure is hosting their Scottish Borders Coaching Conference at Scottish Borders Campus, Galashiels.  This special event allows coaches, teachers and volunteers to learn about sports development across nine disciplines: athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, football, hockey, rugby, swimming and tennis.  Sportspeople who have competed and coached at the highest level will share the methods and techniques they have gathered in the sporting arena and beyond.  This knowledge allows them to prepare and inspire athletes of all ages and guide them towards sporting excellence.  The conference’s key speaker, Steve Backley OBE, is an Olympic silver medalist and one of Britain’s most successful field athletes.  For more information visitwww.sportborders.co.uk.
