Swim West Lothian
seeks an

Age Group Coach

Swim West Lothian’s Management committee is seeking to appoint an “Age Group Coach” within its coaching Team. This Composite Club is now in a position to establish the new and exciting position of an “Age Group Coach”. The successful applicant will work with the Head Coach and other coaching staff members to deliver further successes for the composite club at both District, National and International level.

Swim West Lothian was set up in 2007 with a performance squad and one full-time Performance coach; it now has an established, well-structured programme with 2 full-time members of staff and 3 part-time coaches and a Learn to Swim Co-ordinator. Swim West Lothian is a strong swimming structure within West Lothian made up of the 6 member clubs residing within West Lothian.

The West Lothian area has produced a number of swimmers achieving success at District, National Age Group and Youth level over the years, as well as athletes on National and International programmes. This post provides the successful applicant the opportunity to build upon that success and facilitate taking the programme to a higher level.

The individual appointed will primarily be responsible for the day to day coaching of the “Performance Development Squad” and assisting with the delivery of the Performance programme. The coach will be working with the Head Coach, coaching team, Swim West Lothian Management Committee, an enthusiastic group of committed local swimming clubs and key partners.

The programme requires a highly motivated, creative and ambitious individual with a personal background in swimming; experience of coaching at Age Group level is essential and being able to demonstrate a proven record of success. To fulfil this role you should be a good communicator, in the first instance with swimmers, coaches, and parents, with the ability to develop sound relationships and to work closely with our partners and management committee to maximise the performance of swimmers throughout our programme. The candidate should hold a recognised swimming coaching qualification equivalent to ASA or UKCC Level 2. Minimum 1 year coaching experiences as well as a Disclosure Scotland/PVG check are required

This remuneration for this position is based on experience; the post holder will be contracted to hold an agreement with Swim West Lothian Management Committee and will be on a self-employed basis. Hours and term of contract to be discussed. It will be a part time job in the first instance.
