Success for swimmers at the RCP

An exciting days swimming at the East District Open (incorporating round two of the Scottish Grand Prix) held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool, sent records tumbling.

Lucy Hope of Kelso was the first to set a new East District Record with a time of 30.59 in the 50m back, only to smash it again in the evening final with a new 15 year and Junior record of 30.32.

Not to be outdone, Rachel O’Donnell of Carnegie set a new 100m breaststroke record of 1:13.14, bettering it in the finals session with a 1:12.12 new 15 years record. Rachel followed this with a junior 200 individual medley record of 2:19.33.

Proving his prowess at backstroke, Carnegie’s Craig McLean set 13 years records in 50m 100m and 200m, with new times of 29.17, 1:03.15 and 2:15.92 respectively.

Jack Ness from City of Aberdeen broke the 15 years Scottish Junior backstroke record setting a new time of 27.85 improving the time to 27.69 in the evening final, closely followed by Jordan Lamb’s improvement of his own East District record to 27.94.

Mark Szaranek added to his list of East District records with his 50m East District butterfly record of 25.38.

Rounding off the day’s list of records were the Musselburgh 4 x 100 medley relay time of 4:29,17 which is an East District Junior, a 15/16 and a 14/17 year record.

New constitution

East District EGM

There will be an EGM on Thursday 7th June at 7.30 p.m. in the Boroughmuir Rugby Club.

The proposed new East District Constitution will be presented to the Delegates and offered for adoption.

A welcome return for the East District Open

This weekend the East District Open returns to the newly refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool. This event now incorporates the second round of the Grand Prix Series 2012 which gives our swimmers the opportunity to race against high quality opposition in long course format.

This meet has swimmers from throughout Scotland and the UK.
