On Sunday 26th August the Paralympic Flame Festival will come to Edinburgh. Dropping in on all of the home nation capitals, the Flame Festival is a showcase for Paralympic sport that aims to generate excitement about the forthcoming Games. On its trip to Edinburgh – the only stop it’ll make in Scotland – a day of festivities is planned.
The Sport Spectacular will take place in the morning (10:00am – 1:00pm) at Meadowbank Sports Centre. In partnership with Lothian Disability Sport and Scottish Disability Sport, this event will see local sports clubs put on taster sessions for people of all ages to enjoy. The event will conclude in an appearance by the Paralympic Flame. The event is open to anyone so come along and enjoy the fun.
The Evening Cerebration, which is also taking place at Meadowbank Sports Centre, will include live music and entertainment and will culminate in the lighting of the Paralympic Flame Cauldron. For more information and to get your ticket go to www.edinburgh.gov.uk/paralympicflamefestival.
