Congratulations to Lindsay Lewis on her well diserved appointment to lead the sport at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, bringing over 20 years experience from her work as team manager for both Scottish and British Swimming.
Lindsay was team manager for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and said of her appointment,
“I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as Aquatics Team Manager for Team Scotland at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022.
“I was privileged to do the role on the Gold Coast back in 2018 and I learned so much working with other sports, Team Scotland personnel, while helping ensure the aquatics athletes and their coaches had the best possible experience to perform at their best during the Games.
“The Commonwealth Games are really special and I am looking forward to getting started.”
Welcoming Lindsay to Team Scotland, Elinor Middlemiss, Team Scotland Chef de Mission for Birmingham 2022 said: “The sport team managers for each sport on the Games programme play a vital role, working closely with Commonwealth Games Scotland professional staff to create the best possible environment for athletes and staff from each sport to excel at the Games, as well as bringing them all together as one Team Scotland.
“I’m delighted to have a team manager of Lindsay’s calibre on board so early and look forward to working with her.”
Also delighted with the appointment and looking ahead to a busy build-up before the Games open on 28 July 2022, Alan Lynn, National Coach at Scottish Swimming said,
“I’ve worked with Lindsay on several national team meets and camps including the Gold Coast. She is extremely well organised, has a great ‘can-do’ approach to everything and is held in high regard by both athletes and team staff. I’m delighted at her appointment and look forward to working with her as the team builds over the next 18 months.”
