Artistic
Are you interested in Artistic Swimming?
Can you imagine swimming for up to five minutes while performing acrobatics, holding your breath, looking graceful and having to keep in time to the music or your fellow athletes? No? Well this is what is eventually expected in the sport of synchronised swimming!
Synchronised Swimming used to be known as ‘water ballet’. Routines are essentially athletic movements performed in water and choreographed to music. Routines can be swum as solos, duet, trio or as a team from 4 - 10 swimmers. Synchronised Swimming is a very strenuous and skillful sport requiring both strength and flexibility to perform the routines, as well as rhythm and flair to synchronise and interpret the music. Working together with a team or partner, performance and showing creativity are essential skills. Why not try it out at either Edinburgh or Fife.
