The East District is thrilled to host the 2026 Open Water Novice Event and the East District Open Water Swimming Championships — a full day designed for swimmers of all levels to challenge themselves, gain experience, and enjoy the thrill of open water racing.

Novice Meet — Your Perfect First Splash Into Open Water!

New to open water swimming?
The Novice Meet offers a welcoming, confidence‑building environment for younger swimmers and first‑timers eager to experience the buzz of racing outdoors.
Choose from 250m or 500m circuit races

• Smaller, controlled groups for a calmer, less crowded swim
• A relaxed atmosphere ideal for learning and growing
• A proven launchpad — many past participants went on to conquer 1km races or longer later in the season

If you’ve ever thought about trying open water, this is a great starting point.

East District Open Water Swimming Championships 2026

The excitement continues into the afternoon with fast‑paced championship racing featuring:

• 1km Junior Championship
• 2km Senior/Master Championship
• Chain Relay — a thrilling team event

And new for this year:

• Hat Relay Lottery — giving athletes not able to take part in the chain relay the chance to be selected for a mixed 4×250m relay.
