Scottish Swimming works with talented athletes through a series of progressive national squads, which collectively form the National Programme.
The National Senior Team consists of Scotland’s top competitive swimmers and divers. Underneath this, the National Junior Team plus the Youth & Senior Academy provide a pathway for upcoming athletes to gain relevant education, experiences and support.
At a regional level, the Junior Academy, an initiative run by SASA Districts and Scottish Swimming Performance Team, under-pins the National Programme. It also provides an opportunity for coaches and swimmers to develop a greater understanding of many key areas of competitive swimming. The Junior Academy is designed to work along two strands;
  • The first is to aid the development and education of swimmers aged between 11 and 14 (achieving criteria laid down in the National Selection Policy) along with coaches working within their clubs.
  • The second is to ensure a positive learning experience for coaches with all levels of experience, enabling them to progress their knowledge and practice by working with and learning from each other.Congratulations to you all
