The first event of this new season’s East District Aquatics Junior waterpolo development tournament got underway on Saturday 19 September

The first event of this new season’s East District Aquatics Junior development tournament got underway on Saturday 19 September at Carnegie leisure involving 5 clubs in the East.  Over 50 young players U14 took part with many competing for the first time.  9 short games took place (3 games per club with a NOMADs team offering extra game time) and despite some initial nervousness from those playing for the first time, it was great to see all the players grow and develop over the afternoon. Everyone worked hard, supported each other and picked up plenty of learning points that they can take back into their club training sessions.

There was some great attacking play, determined defending and all the games were competitive and played in great spirit with a total 73 goals scored and many more saved.

Thanks to Iain and Neilson for refereeing and Jeanette, Jane and Bal for taking care of the table official duties.  A big thanks to all the coaches and TMs and a special thanks for all the positive support and encouragement from the balcony, we hope those watching for the first time enjoyed the experience.

Huge well done to all the players, it was brilliant to see so many young players from across the East getting involved, learning, improving and, most importantly, enjoying water polo.

We now look forward to next month’s tournament on 24 Oct starting at 1pm and seeing just how much the teams can improve from what they learned!
